Intelligence (IQ) was defined as a mental capability that includes various tasks from making a plan to learning quickly by Gottfredson. Besides, intelligence has always been caused curiosity in not only the psychology area but also in the neuroscience and biology area. Plenty of psychology schools focused on intelligence during the mid-19th century. With Francis Galton’s analysis and Alfred Binet who is an investor of the first successful intelligence test, intelligence has become more significant in psychology. However, the long-standing argument about how nature and nurture affect intelligence still continue to invest by many psychologists. This means is which one is dominant to determine our intelligence genes or the environment. That’s why scientists mainly focus on what is the role of genes and the environment on intelligence.
Biology of IQ
Nature which represents genetics and many scientists thinks that our genes have a significant role in our intelligence. One of the biggest advocates of gene’s importance was Frances Galton and he published a book in 1869. Galton made an experiment about heritability working with twins.
